My first state fair
We picked a lovely (hot and humid) summer day to head north to the Wisconsin state fair. We ate brats, cheese curds, tacos and drank beer and lemonade.
We saw lots of animals and this was the first time Evan saw a horse up close and these were really big horses. He was a little scared when one of these moved around, he didn't reach out to touch like he does with goats and chickens.

Finally, you can begin to understand me
Evan began talking many weeks ago but we never really knew what he was saying to us. He had whole conversations. His first words were "uh oh", said many times after he purposefully threw something on the floor (most the time, food). Lately, he's been a little mimic, he can clearly say "bye" and for awhile he was calling everybody what sounded like "daddy". Here are his latest words.

Goodbye Kiddieland
This was Mommy and Evan's first and last visit to Kiddieland, it's closing after the summer. Such a sad development. We went on all the rides that a little guy and a parent could go on together but that was only about half of them, we missed the ferris wheel, tilt a whirl, bumper cars. We had a lot of fun anyway.

Keeping busy

We've been enjoying the nice weather and the enlarged deck. No more splinters in little hands and feet and plenty of room for playhouses and climbers. And in other news, our little boy, I guess he officially hasn't been a baby for a few months, took his first steps. The look of amazement on his face is only matched by ours. He still does laps with his walker but he's been doing more and more without it.
