Halloween 2010

We spent all of 5 minutes making our pumkin faces and there's a good chance we'll see similar faces in the future.
We started the weekend with trick or treating at local businesses downtown. It was very busy and our pint sized Superman was a little overwhelmed. He wasn't shy about taking candy, though.
Here we are transferring his stash to the backpack because it was getting heavy for Superman and he would never let anyone else carry his pumpkin.
Even Superman needs to take a break and recharge.
Happy Halloween!

Hobby expo

We were recently informed of this yearly expo for the hobbyist. They had more model trains, remote control cars and helicopters, and building sets than you can imagine. Evan insisted on being carried because he thought he might miss something. A lot of the displays were up too high for little eyes to see.
Look closely, Evan is the last one in the first car.
Evan approached the display seen below with awe, he had both hands on the acrylic box and breathed the word "Cars".

Just for fun

The men of the house loading up on their carbs, just look at the concentration.

Evan will repeat just about anything you say these days and there are new words almost daily. Then there are things like this that are just plain cute

Scarecrows at the arboretum

We met some new friends, Francesca and Olympia, at the arboreteum on another lovely fall day. There were scarecrows decorated by local girl scout troops.

We survived the pumpkin farm

This was day 2 of the hot weekend. Past visits to the pumpkin farm entailed wearing heavy coats, mittens, etc. The only problem was that everyone else, and I don't exaggerate, Everyone else had the same idea. The cars were lined up to get in the entire time we were there.
Where's Evan? Watching the pig races, of course.
At this point Evan was running around the corn maze and mommy and daddy were just too hot to chase him. We had to take some time out to observe...
The pumpkin eating dinosaur!
Evan really enjoyed feeding the animals. It induced laughing and jumping around.

Yet another touch-a-truck event

We started the unusually warm weekend (highs in the 80's) with another touch a truck event, this one sponsored by the city. This one was extra special because a helicopter landed right in front of us.

Vikings weekend

Evan really likes his Auntie Suzie and Uncle Reid. Little boy and little dog got along fine. Here he is entranced by Suzie's iPhone.
While the big boys went to the game, we took a walk to a playground. Here, Evan is sporting his new hat and showing us some sticks he collected.

I'm 100% boy

Evan is showing us what happens when your face meets the sidewalk. He was pushing a car like he does at home all the time. Uneven sidewalks aren't quite as smooth. Mommy actually heard the skull clunk on impact. All's well and Evan was more than happy to drive the fire truck a few days later. Currently, he's obsessed with all emergency vehicles.

Labor Day '10

Evan enjoys petting zoos much more now. He's not scared at all and when the animal run around he screams with excitement.
We also discovered the joy of playdough, or at least the new version of it.
And of course we couldn't miss the train ride.
We ended the evening with rides. Evan's favorite was the motorcycles.
Evan even tried the roller coaster for the first time.
